The restoration of the lower sections of the Villa del Gattopardo (rooms 18 to 23) was co-financed by the European Union, the Regional Department of Productive Activities through measure 3.5.1_02 “Aid to businesses in the startup phase”, by providing a non-repayable grant of € 377,434.69, against a total investment in masonry work, systems, equipment, and other expenses amounting to € 477,418.36.
The intervention concerned the new tourist-hotel structure located within the 18th-century complex known as “Villa Lampedusa”, situated in the famous hills area of the Municipality of Palermo. This complex consists of the main Villa building, which has a C-shaped floor plan spread across three above-ground levels, adjacent structures, a building located at the edge of the garden wall near the water tower known as the “Ex Scuderie”, a coffee house located at the western boundary of the park, and the internal garden of the Villa, which still extends in its original dimensions for about 10,000 square meters.
The project involved the refurbishment and restoration of the lower lateral sections facing the main body of the Villa, to create five self-contained units to be used as vacation homes. The works were organized as follows:
